One of the questions I’m asked the most is what’s the point of a blog and why would I want one? As passionate as I am about blogging, it’s never easy to answer this question because when it comes down to it, people blog for different reasons.
- A writer may start a blog in hopes of getting a larger paid gig with a corporation or publishing house.
- A college student might start a blog to chronicle their new found independence.
- Someone studying abroad may want to blog as a way for their family and friends to keep in touch.
- A person might start a blog or two to make extra money from advertising revenue or affiliate sales.
- Someone with a strong passion for a hobby may start a blog as a way to pay homage to that pastime.
- Some companies blog to enhance the customer service experience.
- A real estate agent might start a blog to gain a competitive edge over the competition because it’s easy to get blogs ranked in search engines. Likewise, a consultant or any other professional might start a blog for the same reason.
There is nothing mystical or mysterious about blogs. They are just another way for people to share information. With the way the internet is growing it’s no wonder that people are grabbing on to their chance to be heard. Why share your message with a small local audience when there is the potential to reach a worldwide audience of billions.
